The UW Farm has 4 hens and we're looking for people to help take care of them this quarter. If you're interested in a weekly shift, or just being a sub, or maybe helping out in other ways, please fill out the brief survey:

Priority to UW students, people new to chicken crew, people willing to take a weekend shift, and those responding promptly! But all are welcome to be subs.
Your response is requested by 5pm Monday Sept 27th. (Sorry to send this out so late; I've been sick.)
Thanks,

[TheUWfarm] re: imagining America this Friday
This is just a reminder reminder that the imagining America conference is going to be held tomorrow afternoon from 11:30- 4:30. I wanted to encourage anyone who is interested to come down eat pizza, have a great discussion, and participate in a really incredible workshop. We are still in need of some volunteers to help with clean up and set up. All will get an opportunity to eat pizza and there are two available shifts, unless folks want to stay for the whole thing which they are more then welcome to do! AM 11-2 or PM 2-5. Come on down!

[TheUWfarm] Tilth Adult Education Administrative Internship
Greetings!
I'm a student at the UW that started working with the UWfarm (some of you may recognize the name, despite the email being different), and ended up at an internship working with Seattle Tilth this summer. As I return to school/ work/ etc. in the fall my stint as the Adult Ed Intern ends and my supervisors are currently looking for my replacement.
If you'd like an internship this fall (10-15 hours/ week) that is local and for an AMAZING organization with FANTASTIC people, I suggest you go to http://seattletilth.org/get-involved/volunteer/index_html and scroll down to the "internships" listing. There you will find a description of the internship as well as instructions on applying. Basically you need to fill out a volunteer application, then email a resume and an introduction to (both) careythornton@seattletilth.org & katiepencke@seattletilth.org
I've had an amazing time working in and out of the office with Tilth, and truly come to respect the capacity for furthering organic urban farming that this organization shows. My internship ends in just a couple of weeks, so jump on it! I look forward to training the next intern.
Happy Gardening,
Jamie C. Bass

[TheUWfarm] volunteers for Imaging America conference Friday
This is just a reminder that a group of folks attending the Imagining America conference will be coming down to tour and have a discussion at the UW Farm about urban agriculture on college campuses. The farm is going to be a great space to address some of the issues of the conference: public scholarship, collaboration, and direct democracy. Anyway we will be needing some volunteers to help out with the set up, clean up,and participation in discussion. The event is going to be from 11- 5 including set up and clean up, however you can also commit to either 3 hours in the beginning 11-2 or 3 hours at the end 2-5 that way you don't have to do both set up and clean up and all can still enjoy pizza at 2:30. We will be having an awesome discussion also at 3:30 with our guests and possible community collaborators like alley cat acres. If you'd like to participate please follow this link and fill out the catalyst poll.

Thanks a bunch for your help! Its going to be a great event!
