After TWO YEARS of planning our expansion to a new acre, we are finally plowing up our new space near the Center for Urban Horticulture this Sunday 5/22 at 9 am.
Full Circle Farms in generously providing a plow through their relationship with Seattle Youth Garden Works of Seattle Tilth, our partner organization on the new site.
As well as simply witnessing the occasion, we will be sharing snacks and discussing the work in store for this summer regarding initial compost/lime addition, cover cropping, and infrastructure design.
If you are interested in being part of the process of designing and/or building infrastructure including a shed, hoop house, compost area (ie., three-bins), and washing station - particularly this summer, this is a great time to come down, express your interest, and begin brainstorming with other UW Farmers and Seattle Youth Garden Works representatives.
I'm attaching Google maps directions - they're a bit confusing, but it's from the site to the Burke museum and to the site from the IMA. The maps piece will make it make more sense. If not, contact me.
Hope to see you there to celebrate and dream big!
-Rachel
