Hi farmers,
Just a reminder that tomorrow the farm is going to have a blessing ceremony tomorrow, Friday May 7, beginning at 1 pm. We are honored to have John Miller, a Skokomish elder, bless our farm. This is a part of an ongoing diversity project headed up by Devon Peña's Agroecology class, and seeds for tomorrow's planting have been provided by Professor Peña and the family of a class member. We are also lucky to be collaborating with the Latino student group MEChA and the UW First Nations Group. This will be followed by the planting of a traditional Mexican kitchen garden, a milpa popular. In addition to the milpa popular, we will be planting camas lily and other traditional natives of the Northwest. and a potluck (bring food, eat food!). We will then transition into a potluck - so bring a dish to enjoy! The farm will be providing salad greens and quinoa that we grew here on the UW campus.
