[TheUWfarm] Clean Greens Fundraiser

Clean Greens is hosting a fundraising dinner at the end of January. The event, Food Justice Starts with Us, features speaker Brahm Ahmadi, co-founder of People's Grocery in Oakland, and a delicious dinner prepared by Seattle area chefs (I've attached the flyer to this email).

Clean Greens is a food justice organization that works to provide low-income and minority residents of Seattle's central district with access to fresh, wholesome and affordable produce. The Central District is what is commonly referred to as a "food desert"; for a variety of reasons, the most significant being simple lack of access, residents are unable to  incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into their regular diets. This, as you well know, contributes to a variety of health problems, including the extremely high rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol among members of this community.
