Hello all,

Looking for a great way to get involved with the farm this quarter that is fun but a very low time commitment with physical rewards? Then look no further!! Join this quarter's chicken crew by filling out the poll linked here with times you are available and I'll set you up with one spot that fits your schedule.  We can train you right away and since the quarter starts tomorrow we could use some volunteers ASAP!

Thanks!

Feel free to email me with any questions

Hey Beth,

This is Andrew Jansen, not sure if you remember me but I was attending the farm lunch a year ago - I've graduated and am out of Seattle now, but I'm trying to convince my little sister who just entered UW that she should start going ;) .

Anywho, I found this great article about urban farming in Nairobi and other African cities, it was an inspiring read for me and I thought you and everyone else at the UW Farm could appreciate it (if you haven't seen it already! I wouldn't be surprised :) )

Hope that you and all the other farmers are doing great, and that 2012 is another awesome year for the farm!

Subject: [TheUWfarm] A Tour for Farmers and Farm Friends: The UW Botany Greenhouse
Hello, Farmers!

The Botany Greenhouse has shared its space and resources with the UW Farm for many years and has been a true partner in developing the vision and capacity of the UW Farm!  Yet I know there is so much left for me to learn and explore within those glass walls, and I hope many of you feel the same way.  To get to know the Botany Greenhouse and all of its fascinating collections of plants a little bit better, we would like to organize a tour of the greenhouse for farm volunteers.  Below are a few of the times we have selected for the tour; if you are interested, please respond to me (raelou@uw.edu) with which time and date you prefer!  This is a fantastic opportunity to really familiarize yourself with the space and ask all those burning questions you have about the exotic plants we are surrounded by every time we go to the Farm Cabinet.

Thurs, Jan 19th, 11:30-12:20
Monday, Jan 23rd, 2:30-3:20
Wednesday, Jan 23rd, 2:30-3:20
Thursday, Jan 26th, 11:30-12:20

Hope to hear from you all!  Around this time next week I will send out a confirmation of when the tour will be.
