[TheUWfarm] UW Farm Newsletter March 10 - 16

Hope you're staying dry and surfing those sun breaks all the way to shore. The Farm is soggy and wormy, just the way we like it and there's lots of double digging and transplanting going on, we hope to see you out this week.
Here's what's going on around town:

Volunteer
Saturday March 15 at the CUH farm site, we'll be working on building our cob oven and shelving for our shed, along with other farm activities. And some alternative spring breakers from USC are joining us!

Tool Maintenance Work Shop
Take a break from finals next week and join special guest Doug Ewing, who will be leading a tool maintenance workshop at the Botany Greenhouse 4-5pm on Thursday 3/20. Learn how to take care of and sharpen your tools to make them last! Sign up here.

Youth Farm Education
Calling all educator types! We need folks to help lead our elementary school field trips and service days. If you are interested, please contact Lauren Glass laurbear2@gmail.com

Workshop Photos
Big thanks to Johnathan from Firefly Kitchens for leading last week's Fermentation Workshop: we had a great turn out, learned a bunch about fermentation, and stuffed our faces with various krauts. Check out some highlights

Humble Feast
A Humble Feast is an "all-you-care-to-eat" local and seasonal dinner seeking to inspire and educate students about how to buy and cook local food on a budget. The UW Student Food Cooperative and service learning students from Professor Lucy Jarosz's course Geography of Food and Eating have created an all seasonal, local, and ethical meal for students on a budget! Space is very limited, get your tickets now!
