The UW Farm is hosting a Fundraiser on Saturday, May 12th! This is an enormous endeavor and we are all very excited about it, because we have a lot of fun things in the works. Since this is such a big event, we are asking you to donate a bit of your time, thought and/or skill to this project! Below are some ways you can help out:
Put together an item for the Silent Auction
Are you an artist? Can you sew? Do you have a particular skill or service you can pass on to others? Do you know someone that does? We're looking for prizes for attendees to bid on, so if you are interested donating something, please let me know ASAP at raelou@uw.edu!
A few examples: the UW Farm is planning on starting and potting up a bunch of tomato starts to bid on; last year, farm friend Erin Lau put together a package of her landscape architecture design services to be bid upon; another person put together a basket of homemade jams and canned goods.
Devise a Concoction for the Dessert Auction
We had some amazing entries for last year's fundraiser! A theme of local ingredients is encouraged, but really so long as you put some heart in it, we would love it. Each dessert will be accompanied by a small card that describes the treat, including any touching details you desire to include. A Bottle of Wine!
We will be serving alcohol at the event, and we are hoping to get some contributions from the grassroots of the farm. Perhaps you don't have the time to volunteer or to invest in making an auction item, or perhaps you know of a particularly good local wine. Extra points if you have a few bottles of respectable, well labeled homebrew to contribute! If you think you can contribute in this way, please email Bennett Rahn at rahnibennett@gmail.com
Help us Serve Food and Be Awesome at the Fundraiser Itself
We are catering the event ourselves, so we would love to have some volunteers! I am unsure of the exact times as of yet, but we will need people to help cook and set up before, serve during, and clean up after the event.
