[TheUWfarm] Seeds order is in, weeds are eaten!

Farmers-
The seed orders for the farm have now been placed, we spent about $200 at Seeds of Change, $40 at territorial and $36 at Wild Garden Seed (an organic farm in Oregon). We bought probably 90% Organic seeds, and tons of cool varieties! It is going to be a great growing year. We've already started to plant some stuff, and in the coming weeks, we will be doing big starting in the greenhouse. Also we had a great weed walk/salad this morning, gathering a 15 species weed salad in 30 min along the Burke. I think we should do this once a month to practice our foraging skills, and to get the new stuff as spring arrives. Here is the list of plants gathered and eaten (all of which can be found all over Seattle). If you are interested in weeds and wild foods, you must read Wild Plants of Greater Seattle by Arthur Lee Jacobson. If you are ever down at the farm, we have it in the library so feel free to take it out for a few hours and try your hand at weed ID.
