[TheUWfarm] FARM DOCENT SKILL-SHARE

hello one and all!
this email is an invitation to the "tour of tours" workshop: on TUESDAY APRIL 26 from 6-830 pma skill-share for anyone (experienced or not!) interested in leading tours of the farm this season and beyond.
we will get together at the farm to share knowledge and ideas that will help us to create interactive and educational tour models while also learning about ourselves as tour guides with the skills and confidence to lead tours in the future. we will all go on a tour of the farm together-- giving each other tours to share stories and questions that we have around themes and the stations/areas (compost, back 40, worm bins, chickens etc) that we use in giving tours to visitors. in this way, we can learn useful tools and information from the experience of other farm docents as well as share pedagogical and presentational tips. we could also record this for future farm tour leaders to reference!
also on the docket for this gathering is a brainstorm to outline important framing information for tours in terms of history, purpose and practices of the farm to enable tour givers to introduce the farm effectively so that they may be creative and intentional in fitting the rest of the tour content to the particular interests of the visiting group. finally, we'd like to get some ideas flowing about what these fun, active visits and theme-based tours can be!
hope you will be there!!!
all the best
amalia
