Dear students: Tezozomoc (co-founder of the South Central Farmers Feeding Families) is presenting at the 37th Annual Conference of the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies. He has agreed to visit my UW classes: ANTH 488 (Agroecology) on Wed. 7 April (330-510 MEB 225) and AES/ANTH/EVIR 211 (Intro to EJ) on Thurs. 8 April (330-520 EEB 125). Please pass the word around and feel free to drop in on our classes. We will of course be discussing the history and current work of the SCF and will also discuss a wide range of other issues related to food justice, food sovereignty, and the intersectional notion of "local, slow, and deep food." We'll also talk about "Convide" (to live with) - which is the heart of Mesoamerican and Chicana/o environmental ethics and couples self-reliance and conviviality; this is also related to our discussion of "resilience," and will note that the practices we will describe predate Petrini's Slow Food "convivium" by hundreds of years, or!
thousands.
