[TheUWfarm] Update on Food Co-op

Hi Farmers

I hope the start of your quarter is going well. I realized that I did a poor update on the cooperative at the all farm meeting and I wanted to follow up with a more elaborated version to keep people up to date.
  • Our major concentration is the development of a report to present to the Board of Directors this quarter
  • We are going to be passing legislation through ASUW, GPSS, and the Faculty senate.
  • Our website is under development and should be up shortly. http://students.washington.edu/foodcoop/
  • We are going to go on a short trip to UBC, likely next weekend (anyone is welcome to tag a long and we are still trying to figure out transportation)
  • A large community dinner is being planned for late april/early may, so stay tuned.
  • We are still investigating the potential of the SCC space (We have the explicit support of the Nutritional sciences that key to gaining the space (both from many students and the chair {to still be put in writing})
  • We are pursuing a complementary relationship with the new sustainable cafe at the Henry
  • We have a team conducting a business analysis for the project
  • We are going to be developing a petition in support of the project that we will be having signed in the near future.
  • Lastly, take the Survey!!! if you haven't already. And forward it to people you know! - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NBPHKN8

Also, there are two list-serves currently. One is more general for those who are supportive of the cooperative and want to be involved and receives emails very irregularly, and another is specific for the taskforce putting this together and will receive anywhere from 3 to 5 emails a day. Anyone is welcome to join either. Send your email to me for the general one, or Maggie for the taskforce one (asuwbdor@u.washington.edu) - . For those who want to keep updated but don't want their inbox filled, I invite you to follow the activity through the group page on the Food Network - http://uw-food.ning.com/, (which has been steadily growing over the last few months.)

best
