Hi all-

 

I made contact with Dave about this meeting. It's going to be at noon, this Saturday, at the proposed p-patch site – where 47^th runs into 22^nd.

Dave is working with a landscape architect (John Barker) to get matching-grant money from Department of Neighborhoods to develop a site plan for the property. The money would require a match from the community – typically in the form of volunteer hours. So, if we could get UW folks to volunteer for this effort, that would help them secure City money for planning.

 

This is a long-neglected piece of property in the middle of an important student neighborhood. It would be great if we could turn it into something better.

 

I hope to see some of you on Saturday.

Hello all,

This is an interesting project idea, I do not know much about it or who Dave is, but its that gross chunk of land down by 22nd and 45th. They are looking for some organizers to put together plans to renovate that space , and with the city and dept of neighborhoods on board that could feasibly become a P-patch which would be cool or atleast not the garbage and blackberry tract that it is now. (hint hint UW farm might be able to get their foot in the door on some new land...)

New P-Patch in the U-District?

Interested in starting a new P-Patch in the University District? The city's Department of Neighborhoods asked us to pass this along as organizers try to get one started.

Where: Triangle slope piece of land on 22nd Ave NE and 21st Place NE meet where NE 47th Street ends. Here's a link to the map.
